Playing Handicap Limits for WMC Net Skins Tournaments

Starting in the 2018 season, the WMC Board adopted a policy for the Net Skins game to limit the total strokes on Par 3 holes to 1 stroke max, and two strokes max on all other holes.  This was done to even the field payouts. Data from previous seasons showed that a larger percentage of payouts were going to two strokes on the par 3 holes and three strokes on par 4 holes.

The Golf Genius software allows us to limit the total playing handicap (PH) for each tournament individually (e.g. this limit only applies to the Net Skins tournament, not to the flighted stroke play tournaments.)  However it does not work if we simply limit the handicap strokes to 32 (four par threes) because on both courses there are par 4 holes with higher handicaps.  To ensure the limit of 1 stroke on par 3s is enforced, we have to have a PH limit below 32 (or 16 for 9 holes) which includes 1-2 Par 4 holes.

We decided to simplify and have a consistent limit of 30 for PH on 18 holes and 15 for 9 holes for the Net Skins games.

Here is a table showing the holes on each course which are limited to one stroke under this policy.
